Biography

Joseph Emile Honour Percival—known as Iosefa or “Sefa”—is a scientist and software developer with expertise in GIS, remote sensing, and ecology, currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Hawaii. He is dedicated to promoting and building open-source software and was a contributor to vrpRouting, an extension of pgRouting that provides vehicle routing algorithms for PostgreSQL. Previously, he worked at Georepublic on several pgRouting-related projects. His research includes studying carbon sequestration trade-offs in land-use decisions and fire dynamics in Madagascar’s dry forests, supporting climate resilience and sustainable land management across the Pacific.
