Biography

Andrew has always had a passion for science with his research journey starting with completion of a biomedical engineering double degree at Monash University in 2001. After gaining 5 years of experience working at the Royal Darwin Hospital Biomedical Department, Andrew commenced work at the Office of the Supervising Scientist in the Environmental Radiation team where he helped develop gamma spectrometry analysis software. In 2008 Andrew’s direction moved to spatial science where he became experienced in all aspects of remote sensing research. After completing a Masters in Environmental Science in 2019, he was involved in developing a billabong fish monitoring program using AI technology. With extensive experience working with hyperspectral data, Andrew is continuing his research journey with a Ph.D. proposal to leverage the latest cutting-edge AI models to improve classification accuracy using hyperspectral imagery collected from a drone.
