Our Free and Open Source Geographic Information Technologies and Open Data Conference (the 5th one) brings together all those interested in Free Geographic Information Technologies (Free GITs), We’ll also exchange experiences in the use and development of free GIT tools, as well as in the creation, exchange and use of Open -Geographic- Data. It will also be a chance to strengthen the Uruguaian gvSIG Community, as well as disseminate the use of this tool, which has contributed to a wider use of Geographic Information by the general public.
The gvSIG Community promotes values of collaboration and shared knowledge as fundamental in the development of the gvSIG project and indispensable for its sustainability. It is having these values in mind that this event is organized, which also represents the fifth meeting of users and developers of gvSIG formally organized in Uruguay.

The Uruguayan gvSIG Community together with GeoForAll Iberoamérica is organising in October our 5th. Free and Open Source Geographic Information Technologies Conference. It has become a landmark event for the country and the region. Let us invite all those interested in Free/Libre Open Source Technologies for Geography to this event specially those from Latin America and the Caribbean. It will be great to meet some of you here in Montevideo.
