Mostar, with a population of approximately 106,000, is the fifth-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of its most captivating destinations. Nestled in a valley along the Neretva River, Mostar is renowned for its harmonious blend of Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Mediterranean architectural styles, a testament to its rich and diverse cultural heritage. The city’s centerpiece is the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of unity and resilience, gracefully arching over the emerald-green waters of the Neretva.
Walking through Mostar’s cobblestone streets, visitors encounter vibrant bazaars, historic mosques, and traditional stone houses, each telling a story of the city’s storied past. The city’s unique charm lies in its ability to weave together elements of East and West, old and new, creating an atmosphere that is as dynamic as it is timeless. Beyond its architectural treasures, Mostar offers a warm Mediterranean climate, breathtaking natural landscapes, and a lively cultural scene, making it the perfect setting for FOSS4G Europe 2025.
